For this past week we studied some new adjectives for chapter 22, which include: うるさい、心配、びんぼう、ペらペら、変、らく(楽), and then were quizzed on them.

We also learned and reviewed ~ば what it means and compared it to たら.
〜ば is used as AばBです。If A then B. It follows more of a logical flow, without the use of opinions. Where たら is used more for opinions, and hypothetical phrases and questions. To make something in the 〜ば form, for verbs, you must remove the final vowel sound from a word in the dictionary form and add an エ sound. くbecomes け, then proceed to add 〜けば.  For い adjectives and anything in the negative (which must be short form) you replace the い with け, because the い becomes く, then follows the former rule dropping the ウ to become け. For な adjectives and nouns, take the dictionary form and add 〜であれば.　たら means the same thing as 〜ば, but たら is for hypothetical situations, so its commonly used with になるand てする.

Then we learned のに, which I'm still not entirely clear on, and compared it to けど, and ので.
AのにB means Although A, B. For facts or events that have happened.
AけどB means A but B.
AのでB means B because A.

Kana Fujimaru is a 22 year old Rikkyo student from Chiba that is studying Tourism. She is studying English as a second language while staying here in Kent so she can be  a flight attendant. She likes music and enjoys karaoke, she's also going to the Green Day concert in January. She really doesn't like animals.

This is the fourth blog entry and the third Reflection Blog

This week in Japanese class. We reviewed Passive as we talked about Causative Passive and we also did a little review over potential form. We submitted our first 新聞 assignment, and took the first Kanji quiz of the semester. We will be taking a review quiz over the same Kanji quiz on Tuesday.

This was all the big step in moving from Chapter 21 to Chapter 22.
I expect that we will do vocab and have 2 different quizzes over Nouns and then Verbs sometime next week.

I've been really sleepy recently, I think its because Winter is coming and I'm ready to hibernate. Thats the challenge I need to overcome, I've really ben trying to sleep earlier, but it doesn't seem to be helping very much. I need to drink more blueberry juice, maybe it'll help my brian focus.

We learned てほしい and that you use when you want someone to do something, its always related to you because you want it, or you don't (〜てほしくありません).

This week we reviewed over chapter 21 and started doing Kanji for chapter 21. Reading Kanji becomes easier over a short time, however writing Kanji is always a difficult task. Thinking of a creative way to remember Kanji is easier if the Kanji itself has different parts to it. Writing these kanji and coming up with a way to remember them are just the start. Having a way to review them is really helpful, flash cards are ok for me, but they never really helped, using the site readthekanji.com has helped a great deal since it is an interactive way to read Kanji and gives meanings, context, stroke orders.

What I learned this week was about the passive form and how to make it. The passive form, translated to English means that something has an action that person B has done, has inconvenienced person A, and now they are upset about it. You can't always use the passive form with all verbs, however.
I also, relearned that I do no like being sick and going to class. Its very difficult to pay attention. I enjoyed doing the yonkomanga while using the passive form.
